A constellation of goddesses for July 4th

This 4th of July I’ll be honoring Columbia, and plenty of people will honor Lady Liberty, but some other goddesses have recently caught my attention and I thought this was the perfect day to mention them.

I’m in the midst of trying to get my ordination recognized by the state of Virginia. Selena Fox, a long-time worshiper of Liberty, pointed out that Virginia’s state seal features the goddess Virtus, a personification of virtue. Another priestess who honors the Greek gods also mentioned the three goddesses on …

Two songs to Columbia

I’m about to head off to the drumming at the Jefferson Memorial. In that spirit, I wanted to share two historical songs that describe Columbia. May your Samhain weekend get off to a great start!

Hail Columbia:

Hail Columbia, happy land!
Hail, ye heroes, heav’n-born band,
Who fought and bled in freedom’s cause,
Who fought and bled in freedom’s cause,
And when the storm of war was gone
Enjoy’d the peace your valor won.

Ritual to Columbia

Materials: an image of Columbia, such as a printout of some of the images on this site, one white candle, and one black candle

Tell your elected officials to support freedom of religion

Take action! Send a copy of this letter to any and all of your elected representatives – the President, members of Congress, governors, state representatives, and even candidates.

I’ve collected links to some of those resources available online which people involved in the Hail Columbia efforts might wish to use.

When the statue of Freedom that stands on top of the Capitol was temporarily brought to ground level for cleaning and restoration, Bonewits led a group that consecrated it to the purpose of promoting the ideals which it …

A Charm for Religious Liberty

A Charm for Religious Liberty

By Ian Corrigan

This is a voice of the people, the people of the United States of America.

In the United States, let no god be master, and let all be free.

Let this be the voice of the Wise, for wisdom is my prayer.

In the United States, let no god be master, and let all be free.

Let the wisdom of the founders bring freedom.

In the United States, let no god be master, and let all be free.

Let the freedom in our spirits be …

Spirit of Aloha Ritual

This ritual is shared by kind permission of Ka Wahine Ahi. Between now and the beginning of October, Hail Columbia will be collecting resources to honor Columbia and support religious liberty in the US. Since Hawai’i is the first state that DC 40 will be calling on, this is an appropriate way to start!

Do this ritual every night from 10/1/11 – 11/12/11.  Allow the candles to burn for as long as you’d like.

Ritual items:   black 3-wick candle
